Sawai Madhopur Spatial Development Plan 2035

Sawai Madhopur is a city of strategic importance for the state of Rajasthan, given its triumvirate of natural assets – a 9th century World Heritage Ranthambore Fort, a hill forest and a National Tiger Sanctuary- all located within the city development region.

The proposed Sawai Madhopur Spatial Development Plan 2035 attempts to incorporate all the aspirations in its regulatory output and the development projects. The overall planning approach of is captured by the acronym of O.N.E. land –

  • O – OPEN – Where natural space and biodiversity is to be protected and reserved against development
  • N – NE W – Where urban growth is to be encourages and the desired density can be defined
  • E- EXIS TIN G – Areas within the existing built-up city may be regulated and incentivised for rejuvenation and or redevelopment

The ONE Land mapping is a new approach to zoning, focusing on both development and conservation – applied in articulating the long term vision for development of the urban region; providing for urban agriculture; in detailing transformative projects for the city; and in proposing the plans for the neighbourhoods.
