Sivasagar’s Lighthouse Project under DSER program is to revitalise the historic Sivadol precinct and the Gaurav path corridor (a 3.5kms stretch) through context-sensitive urban design rooted in Tender S.U.RE principles. The initiative enhances pedestrian access, utilities, and public realm quality while celebrating the city’s unique cultural and architectural heritage. By transforming the Borpukhuri and its adjacent road stretch into a vibrant, inclusive heritage street, the project strengthens mobility, liveability, and the visitor experience in Assam’s cultural capital.
Jana Urban Space is playing an end-to-end role in advancing the Lighthouse Projects, beginning with the preparation of detailed project reports grounded in ongoing field assessments and the MEPI (Move Eat Play Include) framework. The team is developing comprehensive design drawings that integrate climate resilience, accessibility, and high-quality public realm principles tailored to each city’s context. Beyond design, JanaUSP is providing continuous handholding to the implementing agencies, technical reviews, and cross-departmental coordination. On site, the team is offering active implementation support, ensuring design intent is maintained while resolving execution challenges in real time. Collectively, these efforts are positioning the lighthouse projects as demonstrable models of transformative, people-centric urban infrastructure.
