The affordable housing at Kanakapura is a collaborative project between Janaadhar Pvt Ltd, Jain Group of Institutions, Elematic India Pvt Ltd and Jana Urban Space. The housing has been designed in an extremely challenging site using pre-cast technology to achieve optimal numbers. The development is to function as a hostel for the educational institutions across the road initially and then be repurposed as affordable housing units.
To facilitate this flexibility and ensure affordability by design, innovations in building technology across the design and construction stages were explored. Additionally, the units and blocks have been designed to promote an active and social life for the college students currently and the same will be carried forward for the affordable homes as well; with greenery and open spaces woven in to compliment the site’s context.
