Protecting India’s built heritage is an urgent need given the pressure on monetizing land, and this policy was drafted to address that in the context of Rajasthan. It is a statutory framework moving towards a structured approach of undertaking Heritage Projects in the context of a Heritage Plan. Led by the Government of Rajasthan, the policy was prepared under a special committee called Jaipur Heritage Committee (JHERICO) to address three critical aspects of built heritage – Protection, Preservation, and Promotion.
