The Walkable Bengaluru Mission to scale Tender S.U.R.E. Roads citywide

Our proposal for the Walkable Bengaluru Mission has been featured across four leading media outlets:

This highlights a critical moment for Bengaluru. For too long, our streets have been designed mainly for vehicles, leading to broken footpaths, unsafe crossings, and poor first- and last-mile connections. The success of Tender SURE roads in the city centre has already proven that streets can be world-class, safe, and people-friendly. Now it’s time to scale that vision across the city.

The Walkable Bengaluru Mission calls for upgrading over 11,000 km of streets by 2035, transforming how the city moves and connects. This is not just about infrastructure, it is about creating a city where walking is safe, dignified and enjoyable for all.

Our proposal calls for scaling TenderSURE standards across the city, with a focus on –
·     Shaded, continuous footpaths and safe cycle tracks
·     Safe intersections and smoother traffic flow
·     EV-ready ready infrastructure
·     Underground utilities and efficient stormwater management
·     Stronger first and last-mile metro connectivity

A key focus is the 60 km Outer Ring Road, where there is a unique opportunity to reimagine the corridor as a multimodal, people-oriented street serving metro commuters, pedestrians and cyclists alongside vehicular traffic.
